Marshall
point Light was built in 1832 and rebuilt in 1857. The light marks the eastern
side of the south entrance to Port Clyde Harbor. The light has a wooden
walkway connecting it to shore. Marshall Point's height above water is 30
feet and its range is 13 nautical miles. In 1980 the light was fully automated
and the keeper's house and grounds were acquired by the town of St. George.
In 1986 the Marshall Point Restoration Committee was formed and in 1988
the keeper's house was placed on the National Register of Historic Places.The
Marshall Point Lighthouse Museum has displays on three area lighthouses,
Tenant's Harbor, Whitehead and Marshall Point. |
